Over ten thousand (10,000) patients have been treated for various ailments and diseases in Numan, the headquarters of Numan Local Government Area (LGA) of Adamawa State.
Senator representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone, Senator (Rev) Binos Dauda Yaroe saw the need to embark on a three-day mega-free medical outreach in his quest to enhance the wellbeing and health status of his constituents.
The famous Binos Mobile Hospital hit the General Hospital Numan as free medical and surgical services were successfully provided with essential healthcare services to no fewer than ten thousand (10,000) patients cut across the nine (9) Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Adamawa Southern Senatorial District and beyond.
This reporter gathered that the three-day outreach aligned with the vision of Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe in making quality healthcare accessible and affordable for the good people of Adamawa South, especially those at the grassroots.
According to the team lead, Dr. Michael Misauno Aidima, initially they targeted six thousand (6,000) patients, but they were able to treat well over ten thousand (10,000) patients from various ailments and diseases.
According to Dr Aidima, no fewer than two thousand (2,000) eye-related cases were treated with two hundred and fifty (250) cataract surgeries as nine hundred and fifty (950) patients received glasses.
In his words, “We conducted 350 surgeries, including 50 major operations. Some of the surgeries that stand out for me are; a young man with a near-severed hand from an attack, whose limb was saved. Patients with typhoid-induced intestinal perforations who underwent life-saving surgeries. These patients would have survived without the surgeries”.
Dr. Aidima pointed out that the peculiarity of the Numan free medical outreach is their ability to carry out two (2) new major surgeries they have not done before due to their complexity. Such surgeries include goiters and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) which had been handled successfully; thanks to the expertise of anesthesiologists.
Additionally, over four thousand thousand (4,000) general medical consultations were conducted, along with fifty-six (56) X-ray examinations and sixty-eight (68) ultrasound scans.
More than three thousand (3,000) laboratory tests were also performed.

She noted that the patient suffered from the ailment for over a decade, and all her effort to access quality health treatment was nothing to write home about until Senator Binos came for her aid with the free medical outreach.
In her words, “She has suffered from this disease for over ten years. We have been to several hospitals but the healthcare services were not able to cure the ailment because we did not have enough money for the treatment.
“In all the hospitals we have been, the medical bills ran into thousands of naira, from two hundred thousand naira above. But Senator Binos footed the medical bills at Jos Teaching Hospital and she was treated for free. Nobody collected anything from us. The surgery was free, the drugs were free. Everything was done for free.
