Senator Binos D. Yaroe has Flags-off a mega Free medical outreach in Demsa.
Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe has clarified that the National Assembly, contrary to widespread speculation, approved the electronic transmission of election results during the amendment of the Electoral Act. He insisted that claims to the contrary are misleading and unfounded.
Senator Yaroe made this clarification during the flag-off of a large-scale free medical outreach organised by his office at Demsa Cottage Hospital, where no fewer than 15,000 patients are expected to receive free medical services.
The exercise has drawn a total of 155 medical personnel from across the country, offering specialised consultations, surgeries, and treatments to local communities in the Adamawa South Senatorial Zone.
Addressing journalists on the contentious issue of electronic transmission of results, Senator Yaroe disclosed that, as a member of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, he was actively involved in the review of the 2022 Electoral Act.
He explained that both chambers of the National Assembly, through joint committee engagements, retreats, and consultations held in Abuja and Lagos, unanimously recommended the electronic transmission of election results.
“I was part of the entire process. The joint committees of the Senate and House of Representatives recommended electronic transmission, and that recommendation formed part of the final report presented to the Senate,” Yaroe stated.
He added that an ad-hoc committee later set up to review grey areas in the report also reaffirmed electronic transmission as part of the amended law.

According to him, the confusion arose due to misinterpretation and misinformation, particularly on social media.
He stressed that the Senate leadership, including the Senate President, had publicly confirmed the approval, noting that the matter would be conclusively resolved once the official votes and proceedings are released.
“People should not believe everything they read on social media. We are making progress, not going backwards,” he said.
The senator, who underscored the importance of healthcare intervention as a critical aspect of leadership, said the free medical outreach was part of his commitment to serve constituents who lack access to quality healthcare. He revealed that similar outreaches had been conducted in other local government areas, some more than once.

“One patient told us he was referred to Gombe and asked to pay N500,000, but he received free treatment today,” he said.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Chief Felix B. Tangwami (represented by the Principal Medical Officer of Demsa Cottage Hospital, Dr. Mivinya Pongri), praised the senator’s initiative, describing it as a practical demonstration of his love for the people.
He conveyed Governor Fintiri’s appreciation and reaffirmed the state’s resolve to support interventions that reduce untreated medical conditions and prevent avoidable complications.
Chief Tangwami commended Senator Yaroe for his compassion and dedication, noting that free medical outreaches help bridge healthcare gaps, provide specialised services to underserved populations, and complement government efforts in preventive care.
He said that since its inception, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration has made healthcare a major priority, investing heavily in infrastructure, equipment, and manpower.

In his speech, the leader of the medical team, Professor Michael Missauno, described the outreach as equivalent to bringing a teaching hospital to Demsa Local Government Area.
He disclosed that over 5,000 patients had already been registered, with more than 50 surgeries successfully conducted. He added that the team plans to treat over 15,000 people before the exercise concludes. He called on other well-meaning Nigerians to complement such efforts, stressing that one individual cannot address all healthcare challenges alone.
Beneficiaries, including Gibson Taraki (who underwent prostate surgery) and Dimas Kechale (treated for hernia), expressed deep gratitude to the senator, saying financial constraints had denied them medical care for over a year. Both urged other political leaders to emulate Senator Yaroe’s humanitarian gesture.

The traditional ruler of Demsa, HRM Alhamdu Gladson Teneke, also lauded the intervention, thanking both the senator and the Adamawa State Government for equipping health facilities and ensuring their effective utilisation. He described health as the foundation of a productive society and prayed for the speedy recovery of all beneficiaries.
