It was another milestone for the younger generation in Adamawa Southern Senatorial District when Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe sponsored and trained no fewer than two hundred and fifty (250) youths on Solar PV technologies which include installation, maintenance, and repairs among others.

Twenty-eight (28) beneficiaries have been selected from each of the nine (9) Local Government Areas (LGAs) that constitute Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone with one hundred and ninety (190) male and sixty (60) female.

Declaring the training open at Pwanobato Event and Resource Centre in Numan LGA on Tuesday, Chief Host and Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Neido Geoffrey Kofulto, said that gone are the days when people depend on Distribution Companies (Discos) for power, hence the need for the youth to be equipped with modern technologies on solar to enable them to be in tune with changing times.

Neido said that what Senator Binos has been doing is in line with the Fintiri-led Administration’s empowerment program, adding that the training in question would go a long way in alleviating poverty in the land.

In her words, “This is not the first time that Senator Binos is rolling poverty out of Adamawa Southern Senatorial District. We are in the world of scientific and technological advancement, and this is part of the technology that our people need to learn.

“The power grid of Nigeria has failed us. So in this particular time in time, solar energy training is one of the best things in the society, and it is happening in Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone”.

The Commissioner commended Senator Binos for giving women a sense of belonging in the training as potential sixty (60) solar female engineers are in the making in Adamawa South in the next four days.

She disclosed that with the massive employment on the way by the Adamawa State Government, a need would arise for the inclusion of solar engineers who would maintain solar installation across the 21 LGAs.

While calling on the participants ‘not to despise their days of little beginning’ and put in their best in the cause of the training, Neido expressed optimism that the training would make a great positive impact in the lives of the benefitting young persons.

Also speaking, the Senator representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, Senator (Rev) Binos Dauda Yaroe said that his decision to sponsor and empower the youth was borne out of his desire to ensure the young people become useful to themselves, their families, and the society as a whole.

Represented by his former DG Campaign, Mr Katawan Boniface, the People’s Senator pointed out that the participants were carefully selected irrespective of religious or tribal backgrounds across the 9 LGAs, adding that the training would be an open door for the beneficiaries to get many window opportunities for the betterment of themselves and development of the society.

Senator Binos recalled that fifty (50) participants were trained on the same solar technologies last year which yielded positive results as quite a good number of them got jobs within and outside the country.

While assuring the physically challenged of their empowerment program in no distant time, Senator Binos said that he saw the need to sponsor the empowerment program because ‘everybody is going solar globally’.

In his remarks, one of the resource persons, Engr. Ibrahim Taoreed Bayo said that the participants would undergo extensive training on solar installation, maintenance, and repairs with the technical know-how on solar PV technologies.

He revealed that his company would collaborate with Riteddy Resource Limited and Ajagba Nigeria Limited to ensure the participants are trained to be experts and compete globally in the installation, maintenance, and repairs of solar PV technologies.

Collaborating, Executive Chairman of Numan Local Government Council (LGC) and former Director Logistics Binos Campaign Team, Hon. Innocent Kotto, commended Senator Binos Yaroe for choosing Numan LGA as the central zone for his empowerment programme, noting that the Council would ensure the participants feel at home during the cause of the training.

The Council boss expressed optimism that the training would empower the youth in solar energy, adding that the benefitting persons would be engaged in solar installation, maintenance and repairs in the LGA.

Earlier in his welcome address, one of the facilitators, Alh. Abdulkareem Bakala, called on the participants to take advantage of the training and learn the skills required in solar energy so as to help themselves, their families and the society at large.

He pointed out that the empowerment programme would take the youth out of street in large number, where he thanked Senator Binos for taking it upon himself to embark on such all-important empowerment training.

He urged the participants to put in their best and take good advantage of the training as plans are on top gear by the 9 LGC Chairmen to engage engineers on solar energy in their quest to installating solar power in their respective LGAs.

Bakala stated, “It is better to be trained on how to catch fish than for you to be given fish. I am delighted to see the youth being empowered. I thank Senator Binos for his excellent representation. The Senator has touched lives of many people in all aspects of human endeavour”.

He said that the bill for the establishment of the Federal College of Horticulture has passed through a third reading at the Red Chamber, courtesy of Senator Binos Yaroe.

Engr. Bokono Bernard Nathan was one of the participants in the first phase of the empowerment programme conducted last year. This week, he is traveling to Russia on scholarship program aided by the certificate he obtained from the said training.

From the house’s mouth, “I participated in a portfolio competition with the Russian Government where I got a scholarship. I was one of the best participants with the help of the certificate I obtained from this training last year”.

Nathan disclosed that he was involved in solar installation within and outside his locality, hence the need for the participants to put in their best as the future looks bright.

The training and empowerment program would span five (5) days as the participants would undergo extensive training on all aspects in relation to solar energy. Each of the participants was given skits and working tools, and they would be fed and accommodated free of charge from start to finish.
