Sen Yaroe Embarks on 5th Distribution of Bags of Grains to Constituents

Constituents of the Adamawa Southern Senatorial District have another reason to smile as Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe distributed no fewer than nine hundred and forty-five (945) bags of grains to improve their livelihoods.

Each of the nine (9) Local Government Areas (LGAs) constituting the Adamawa Southern Senatorial District received fifty-five (55) bags of maize and fifty (50) bags of rice, totaling four hundred and ninety-five (495) bags of maize and four hundred and fifty (450) bags of rice, making a total of nine hundred and forty-five (945) bags.

Addressing the LGA representatives shortly before the distribution exercise, Senator Binos Yaroe explained that he initiated the distribution due to the evident need during this period. According to the Senator, the grains were procured from his personal funds, emphasizing his commitment to meeting the needs of his constituents. He stated, “One reason I decided to distribute these bags of grains is that NEMA provided food and non-food items for flood victims across five communities in the Adamawa Southern Senatorial District.

“While flood victims benefited from NEMA’s relief materials, I felt it was right for others to receive support as well, since nearly all households across the nine LGAs were affected by the natural disaster. Hence, my contribution.”

Speaking shortly after collecting one hundred and five (105) bags of grains for onward distribution, the representative of Demsa Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. (Mrs.) Marilyn Danbabayi, described Senator Binos as a politician who prioritizes his constituents’ interests, noting that the grains would significantly enhance the livelihoods of people across the nine LGAs.

She emphasized that the most vulnerable in society would be the primary beneficiaries, as instructed by the Senator, and that effective mechanisms have been established to ensure transparency in the distribution process.

Mr. Abubakar Usman, representative of Jada Local Government Area (LGA), noted that this was the fifth time this year that Senator Binos has provided food and non-food items to benefit the people of Adamawa South. He added that measures would be taken to ensure those who benefited from previous distributions do not receive items this time, allowing the aid to reach the most vulnerable.

Similarly, flood victims in Vulpi, Bolki, and Salti in Numan LGA, and Mararaba Labbare and Sebore Teneke in Mayo-Belwa LGA of Adamawa State have benefited from relief materials provided by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to alleviate their hardships due to the natural disaster.

The distribution, facilitated by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, representing the Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, was part of NEMA’s efforts to support victims of recent flooding. While distributing and facilitating the delivery of items to beneficiaries in Numan and Mayo-Belwa LGAs, Senator Binos explained that NEMA’s provision of relief materials was based on reports submitted to the agency and its assessments conducted in collaboration with the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA).

The Senator noted that NEMA’s relief efforts inspired him to distribute 945 bags of grain to his constituents, aiming to foster a sense of belonging among them.

Speaking to the press, an official from NEMA’s Operations Office in Yola, Mr. Abdulkadiri Mahmud, stated that the agency recognized the need to support victims of natural disasters to improve their livelihoods. He commended Senator Binos Yaroe for his commitment to enhancing the well-being and welfare of his constituents, particularly through his contribution to grain distribution.

A cross-section of flood victims who spoke with journalists after receiving the relief materials expressed gratitude to NEMA and Senator Binos for their support during this critical time. Daniel Makwada and Alex Amakildo, representatives of the Salti and Bolki communities, respectively, thanked the agency and the Senator for their kind gestures, praying that God Almighty grant them their heart’s desires.

Some of the food items provided by NEMA include bags of maize, bags of rice, cartons of spaghetti, and cartons of vegetable oil, among others.
