Ramadan: Senator Yaroe Launches Mega Food Distribution, Donates 4,856 Bags of Rice
Includes 2,000 bags of sugar, 2,000 cartons of spaghetti, 246 gallons of cooking oil, and N2.4 million for logistics
In a significant effort to ease economic hardship during Ramadan, Senator (Rev.) Binos Dauda Yaroe has initiated a large-scale palliative distribution program targeting vulnerable residents across the nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Adamawa Southern Senatorial District. The initiative aims to support the less privileged during this holy month of fasting and reflection.
The distribution includes 4,856 bags of rice, 2,000 bags of sugar, 2,000 cartons of spaghetti, and 246 gallons of groundnut oil, designed to alleviate food insecurity, particularly in rural communities struggling with rising living costs. Each of the district’s wards received 50 bags of rice, specifically allocated for the elderly and economically disadvantaged, regardless of political affiliation or ethnicity, reflecting Senator Yaroe’s commitment to inclusivity.

To address logistical challenges, Senator Yaroe provided N2.4 million to support transportation and coordination, ensuring the aid reaches its intended recipients efficiently. Represented by Hon. Adiyel Kurga, the Senator emphasized the initiative’s importance amid soaring living costs, particularly during Ramadan. “People are facing tough times due to the high cost of living, especially while fasting. These palliatives aim to ease household burdens at the grassroots level,” he told journalists before the distribution began.
A robust coordination system ensures transparency and efficiency. Each LGA has three coordinators overseeing the process, supported by ward and unit-level coordinators. Hon. Yosi Isaiah Leru, Jada LGA Coordinator, explained, “Once the palliatives arrive, ward and unit coordinators are mobilized to distribute them fairly.” She stressed that the items, such as the 550 bags of rice allocated to Jada’s 11 wards, are reserved for the needy and will not be sold, praising the Senator’s focus on accountability.

Mr. Robinson Raymond, Guyuk LGA Coordinator, echoed this sentiment, noting Senator Yaroe’s consistent support for his constituents. “This isn’t his first effort. He gave us clear instructions to ensure transparency, and distribution will start immediately upon arrival,” he said. Similarly, Haj. Maryamu Shelleng Isa, Shelleng LGA Coordinator, affirmed the team’s dedication to fairness. “The Senator trusts us to deliver, and by Allah’s grace, we’ll ensure these items reach those in need,” she said, highlighting the strategic timing of the mid-Ramadan distribution when many households face dwindling supplies.
The financial allocation for logistics per LGA further streamlines delivery, reinforcing the program’s goal of providing timely relief to the most vulnerable, including the physically challenged, across the senatorial district.
