Senator Yaroe admonishes Senate leadership on its extant rules.

For the umpteenth time, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe representing Adamawa South in the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly has drawn the attention of the Senate leadership to the importance of complying with its rules of engagement in lawmaking.

The lawmaker dropped this reminder at Wednesday’s plenary session while contributing to debates on some bills sponsored by his colleagues.

Senator Yaroe specifically cited “Senate Orders 75, 76,77, 78, and 79” which stipulates that copies of bills scheduled for debates on the floor of the Senate must be circulated amongst Senators prior to debating them.

This he explained ” is to afford Senators ample time to go through and digest all contents therein ahead of debates- but unfortunately, he further notes these have not been complied with in the recent past, hence this reminder “.

It could be recalled, that this same observation of lack of complying with Senate rules was dropped in March this year by Senator Yaroe, when debate on FCT 2024 Fiscal Budget was tabled for debate on the floor of the Senate.
