REMARKS AT THE COMMISSIONING CEREMONY OF THE RECONSTRUCTED 3-CLASSROOM BLOCK AND PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE AT GDSS KPASHAM

BY SENATOR BINOS D. YAROE

PROTOCOLS

It is with great pleasure and a sense of satisfaction that I stand here to witness the commissioning of the reconstructed and furnished 3-classroom block and Principal’s office here in GDSS, Kpasham, Kpasham Ward, Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State. This project has been made possible through the corporate social responsibility activities of NDIC. Adamawa South became a beneficiary through the magnanimity of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokumbo Abiru, who gave me the privilege of nominating where the project was to be sited.

In consultation with your son, Mr. Francis Ngalato, we decided to use the rare privilege to address a severe need of this school.

The single biggest investment any nation can make is in the education of its youth. Without a conducive environment, no meaningful and enduring learning can take place. The rot and decay in the educational sector, most especially at the primary and secondary levels, are quite frightening.

In December 2024, I was in another community in Mbula Ward of Demsa Local Government as the Special Guest of Honor at the commissioning ceremony of another school’s renewal project. That project was funded by the Nigerian Army. So, one classroom block at a time, one school at a time, and one community at a time, the decay is being addressed. Education is on the concurrent list of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended). Therefore, all levels and components of the Government are contributing their quota in this renewal effort.

I therefore profusely extend my most sincere appreciation to the MD of NDIC, Malam Hassan Bello, for coming to our aid in providing the resources to put up this building and office, as well as furnishing the 3 classrooms and the Principal’s office. I must also extend my appreciation to my Chairman, Distinguished Senator Mikhail Adetokunbo Abiru, Chairman Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, for extending to me the privilege of nominating a project to be funded by NDIC. Your son, my friend and SLA, is the right person at the right place.

As I said, this intervention will help, in no small measure, in improving the learning environment in this school

There is nothing we will do for Kpasham that can be said to be too much. I congratulate the Kpasham community on this reconstructed and furnished classroom block and the Principal’s office. As you put it to use, I charge you to maintain it well. We pray that the performance of this school going forward will justify our collective effort in bringing this project up.

Thank you, and God bless you all.
