Sen. Yaroe facilitates Agricultural training for 100 women/youths in Adamawa south
The senator representing Adamawa South in the red chambers of the national assembly, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe has facilitated the training of 100 women and youths in modern agriculture.
The training which will be conducted by the Federal College of Horticulture Dadinkowa Gombe state in conjunction with Rutnan Techniques will equip the farmers with knowledge of how to improve their yields in order to make agriculture the economic mainstay of the people.
Adamawa South senatorial district has a comparative advantage in agriculture and livestock production and has been contributing significantly to the nation’s GDP in the agriculture and livestock sector.
Speaking at the inauguration of the training on Friday, the resource person Dr. Auwal Lamba said the objective of the training is to generate employment opportunities for the youths.
“The training aims to improve farming methods, remove the drudgery associated with traditional farming practices, and increase food production in the state and the federation,” he said.
Another resource person, Dr Fatima, said the training also aimed at reducing rural-urban migration of the youths.
Fatima advised the participants to be serious during the training and understand, saying, ” Many out there are looking for such opportunities.’
Hon. Gibson Alexander and Hon Philip Kenan in their separate remarks, also advised the participants to understand the importance of the agricultural value chain, in boosting their businesses and creating employment for others.
”God has blessed the state and the region with fertile land, hence the need for you to take its advantage and be productive”, they told the participants
The participants thanked the senator for facilitating such training and pledged to put what they had learned into practice at the end of the course.
