SENATOR YAROE DEMANDS URGENT ACTION OVER CEASELESS BLOODSHED IN ADAMAWA SOUTH COMMUNITIES

Distinguished Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, representing Adamawa South in the upper legislative chamber of the NASS, has taken the worsening security crisis in his Senatorial District directly to the floor of the Nigerian Senate, demanding an immediate and decisive response to the seemingly unceasing violence ravaging some parts of the area.

Addressing the upper legislative chamber at the Senate plenary on Wednesday, the lawmaker laid bare the grim reality of the escalating conflict, pushing for urgent interventions to halt the senseless slaughter of innocent civilians.

Rising on a motion of urgent public importance, Senator Yaroe painted a harrowing picture of the relentless attacks plaguing Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

He made it clear to his colleagues that the situation had degenerated beyond mere skirmishes, resulting in catastrophic losses of lives, destruction of property, and the mass displacement of vulnerable populations from their ancestral homes.

Delivering an honest account of the atrocities, Yaroe drew the Senate’s attention to a deeply disturbing incident from December 2025. He informed the chamber that armed personnel allegedly opened fire on defenseless women in the Rigange community, who had gathered simply to protest the continuous and unchecked attacks destroying their lives and livelihoods.

Senator Yaroe explained that the violence has only intensified this year. stressing that in the early hours of Thursday, 23 April 2026, armed militias riding on motorcycles invaded Gyakan, Waduku, and Kwa communities.

He expressed grave concern that these latest massacres were successfully executed despite the strict enforcement of a dusk-to-dawn curfew and the active presence of military personnel stationed within the volatile area.

Refusing to let the motion end in mere rhetoric, Yaroe advanced three stringent resolutions to force institutional accountability and provide immediate succor.

He successfully moved to mandate that the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence conduct a comprehensive investigation into the security collapse, while simultaneously directing the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to deploy urgent emergency relief materials to displaced survivors.

Concluding his sobering address, the Distinguished Senator called upon his colleagues in the National Assembly to formally acknowledge the human cost of the state’s inaction.
