SENATOR BINOS EMPOWERS YOUTHS IN ADAMAWA SOUTH WITH SOLAR KIOSKS.
In a historic initiative aimed at uplifting youths in Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe has presented nine solar-powered kiosks to the nine best-performing participants in each of the Local Government Areas (LGAs) within the zone.
The solar kiosks, presented at the closing ceremony of a five-day training program on Solar PV Technologies, are designed to enhance the recipients’ livelihoods and pave the way for them to start their businesses.
The distribution of the solar kiosks marks a milestone in Adamawa’s history, being the first time such technology has been implemented in the state.
Each kiosk, installed with solar power, is intended to operate independently of the national grid, which has been unreliable for many Nigerians. The kiosks are exclusive to Adamawa South’s nine LGAs, with each unit owned by the most outstanding participants of the training program.
The solar kiosk presentation was part of a larger training and empowerment initiative that involved the training of 250 youths on solar PV technologies. Held at the Pwanobato Event and Resource Centre in Numan, the program equipped participants with skills in solar installation, maintenance, and repair. Each trainee received solar kits worth N85,000 to support them in applying their new knowledge and becoming self-sufficient.
“The goal is not personal praise but to see my constituents thrive,” said the Senator. He pledged further support for training and empowerment programs to create a skilled workforce capable of advancing the district’s economic potential.
The initiative garnered praise from other local leaders, including Hon. Neido Geoffrey Kofulto, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development. She commended Senator Binos for his foresight in offering life-changing opportunities to the youth. “This program will help eradicate poverty and idleness, equipping our young people to use solar energy to light up the district,” she said.
Engr. Taoreed Bayo Ibrahim, one of the facilitators, also lauded the Senator’s commitment to equipping the next generation with technical skills. He stressed that the participants are now well-prepared to contribute to society’s development by reducing reliance on the national grid through solar energy.
Felix Maigari and Amina Nasiru, speaking on behalf of the participants, expressed their gratitude to Senator Binos for the opportunity and assured him of their full support in future endeavors. They acknowledged the impact the training will have on their lives and committed to using their skills to bring about change in their communities.
The closing ceremony featured the presentation of solar kiosks, solar kits, and certificates to the participants. The event underscored the Senator’s efforts to address youth unemployment and poverty by offering sustainable, future-proof solutions. As more youths are trained in solar technologies, the Southern Senatorial Zone of Adamawa is poised to become a beacon of renewable energy adoption in Nigeria.
