SENATOR YAROE SPONSORS A MOTION TO IMMORTALIZE LATE SENATOR ZWINGINA.
In a bid to honour late Senate Deputy Leader Senator Jonathan Silas Zwingina, Distinguished Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe representing Adamawa South in the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly under ‘matter of national interest’ formally informed colleagues at Wednesday’s plenary of the passing of the former.
The motion co-sponsored by his colleagues from Adamawa: Senator Aminu Iya Abbas representing Adamawa Central as well as Senator Amos Yohanna representing Adamawa North, Senator Yaroe main sponsor of the motion, enumerated some achievements and attributes of the deceased who served his constituency, Adamawa South Senatorial District for two terms in the upper chamber between 1999 and 2007, under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Senator Yaroe and his fellow senators from Adamawa formally tabled three prayers at Wednesday’s plenary in honor of the deceased: thus urging the leadership of the upper chamber to nominate a delegation who would represent it at the deceased’s burial, for the Federal Government to immortalize late Senator Zwingina by naming a national monument after him, and also honoring him with a one-minute silence at the Senate plenary.
The President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio put all three prayers to vote, and they were all unanimously adopted by the senators at the plenary.
